Location & Facilites

The institute is located at Gwalior on Delhi-Bombay Railway line. It is connected by Rail, Road and Air. You take 3 hours 35 minutes to reach Gwalior by train from Delhi. The railway station is 4 Kms away while G.R.M.C. medical College is just 1.8 Kms, away from the campus.
The campus is situated in the heart of the city providing serene atmosphere for learning and assimilation. The campus provides all basic amenities and facilities and is approachable by road transport.

Class rooms & Conference Hall

All class rooms and lecture theatres are equipped with modern teaching aids and provided with comfort and conducive environment for learning and assimilation.

Library & Computer Lab

College has a well-equipped fully computerized Library which provides latest and up-to-date reference
and course books. It is subscribing a large number of journals, newspapers and magazines.

The good collection of Video Tapes, CD-ROMs and Audio Cassettes on different subjects make the library unique. The Computer Lab equipped with Pentium base terminals and students have access to E-mail deciliters and latest software.

Laboratory

Under he valuable guidance of the faculty, nursing students are allowed to work in the following and technologically equipped labs :

• Fundamental of Nursing Lab
• Anatomy and physiology & Biochemistry Lab
• Nutrition Lab
• Community & OB / Gynae Lab (MCH)
• Microbiology Lab
• AV Lab

The sudents shall, however be responsible for any damage . They have to buy their own community supplies (required for community Health, Home visits)

Clinical Training

All the students Sophia Nursing College are posted at J. A. Group of hospital for the clinical Experience which is a 1200 beded hospital. The permission was granted by the Hospital vide letter no. 13098/Auto/2005 date 30.6.2005.

• Clinical Practice

1. Health Check-up at the time of admission and every year.
2. Students are posted in J.A.H. Gwalior for clinical experience in various departments. It provides all the Clinical learning experience required under the supervision of Nursing Superintendent, Nursing Sisters and Clinical Instructor and transport facility is provided.

• Field Practice Area
  
  Rural and Urban Field Health Centres namely Dabra and Thatipur respectively will be utilized for the field training. These rural / urban field health centres are fully equipped for the field training as the field training as the same are also being used for the field training of students and interns of Medical College Gwalior.

Community Health Nursing Lab

In this laboratory the student practice the skill and techniques for public health activities and family health care. The laboratory is unique as it provide for in-house preparation of various audio visual aids for information, education and communication activities on health topics.

Maternal and Child Health Nursing Lab

This state of art laboratory facility provides the students to practice antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care. The mannequins are provided to practice abdominal examination, delivery and episiotomy suture.

The other labs available are Microbiology lab, Audio Visual Lab, Anatomy and Physiology Lab, Biochemistry Lab.

Cafeteria

The college has a cafeteria which serves wholesome food to the students, staff and faculty of the college on no profit basis.

Transport

The college has its own transport. Buses and ambulance are used for sending nusing students to clinical practice.

Hostel Facilities

• Separate hostel facility is available for both Boys and Girls, which is situated about 1 km from the college building.

• Hostel is very airy with water cooler and aquaguard facility and telelphone.

• Each students is provided with a Bed , Table, chair and sufficient quantity of these articles are available with the college.

• Hostel is provided with a Warden, Chowkidar, Peon and Sweeper.

• Canteen and STD/ PCO facility is also available at the Hostel

Student Nursing Association (S.N.A.)

All the students of this college conduct the S.N.A. elections and the results include Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

New Developments

In-service education

The college provides the facility of In-service education wherein the faculty members of the college are allowed to study for higher professional degree, with job assurance. Many of the B.Sc. (N) staff is enrolled in M.Sc. (N) in various faculties and they are paid monthly stipend too.
